The extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act is not just a trade matter — it is a strategic investment in the future of Africa –United States relations.
For Ghana, AGOA has opened doors for our exporters, created thousands of jobs, and helped us shift from exporting raw materials to adding real value at home. It has empowered women, strengthened small businesses, and supported the growth of emerging sectors like textiles, agribusiness, technology, and light manufacturing.
The Ways and Means Committee of the US congress has drafted legislation extending AGOA for 3 years. This welcomed development requires our immediate and urgent support. The goal of the Continue AGOA campaign will primarily be to build broad based support for this AGOA reauthorization – locking in gains and building momentum for its inclusion in the Jan. 2026 Continuing Resolution.
