The Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Mrs. Jane Gasu Aheto, has commended the Ga-Dangme Association in the USA for its role in the formation of the Council of Ghanaian Associations, bringing together diverse ethnic identities under one umbrella.
Speaking on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Victor Emmanuel Smith, Mrs. Gasu Aheto noted that the theme for their celebration “Celebrating 40 years: Ready to Rebuild, Restore, Revitalize our Culture and Heritage” resonated with H.E. President John Mahama’s Reset Agenda which has placed Ghana on an accelerated path for growth and development with the sole aim of transforming the economy.
She said that as the Champion for Reparations at the African Union, President Mahama has been leading the campaign for reparative justice for Africa to fight the negative effects of colonialism and empower generations to continue and revitalize their rich cultural and traditional legacies.
She reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to offering support and assistance “to our fellow Ghanaian brothers and sisters who live and work (in the USA)” and encouraged each to be the other’s keeper “and work together for the common good of our dear nation, Ghana.”
She, however, cautioned that now that the visa restrictions have been lifted for Ghanaian travelers to the USA, it is imperative that we as a people do not abuse the privileges granted us. We must ensure that we abide by the rules governing visas, responsibly, so we do not suffer adverse consequences.”
The 40th Anniversary celebrations of Ga-Dangme Association was held on Saturday, 27th September, 2025.
